Standing With Frontline Health Workers

Nurses are on the front lines every day working to keep families healthy in Joliet and across the country. We love and support our nurses because we know that they'll be there, caring for us and advocating for us when we need it most.

It's not right that our government lets hospital administrations put profit over people as nurses burn out in understaffed, overworked units and hospitals are given waivers to ignore the few safeguards that are actually in place.

While California is allowing hospitals to break the law and ignore safe patient ratios, Illinois doesn't set safe patient ratios at all. That means no rules in place to make sure our nurses aren't forced to take care of ten patients at a time, no rules to make sure they're able to take the breaks they need to give every patient the care they need.

In Joliet, our government won't even stand up for our nurses and front line health workers to make sure their contracts, that keeps the working families of Joliet safe, are respected by their hospitals.

I'm running for Joliet City Council because I believe the working families of Joliet aren't getting a fair shake. As City councilor, I will stand with our nurses and front line health workers to make sure they have what they need to take care of our families.

Our Nurses and front line health workers have always been heroes, it's time for Joliet City Council to put away the empty praise and support our nurses with action. Together, we'll fight for a health system that puts people before profit.
